Education minister promises a return to mastery of math basics

Don’t get too excited. As David Staples, author of the Edmonton Journal article, writes

In the face of such widespread and reasonable criticism, it’s a relief to hear Johnson is listening. At the same time, it’s worrisome that the same educational bureaucracy that went overboard with discovery math is writing the new curriculum.
